Cartier est, sans consteste, une des marques joaillères et horlogères les plus renommées et influentes dans les deux domaines à la fois. Elle est également principalement reconnue comme une marque plus tournée vers le design que les performances chronométriques de ses mouvements comme d'autres horlogers traditionnels. Des modèles emblématiques comme la Tank, la Santos, la Baignoire et la Panthère sont aujourd'hui encore célébrés pour leur esthétique intemporelle, ce qui fait de Cartier une marque à part dans le monde horloger.

La Tank est le modèle le plus iconique de la maison Cartier. Apparue en 1917, mais mise en vente qu’à la fin de la guerre en 1919, son dessin s’inspire d’un Tank Renault FT-17 vu de dessus. Certains éléments sont toujours inchangées depuis sa création : les deux brancards verticaux qui prolongent le boîtier et permettent l'intégration du bracelet, la minuterie chemin de fer et les chiffres romains sur le cadran ainsi que le cabochon de saphir sur la couronne de remontoir. 

Le modèle que nous avons ici fut introduit en 2023 dans le cadre de la collection Cartier Privé (collection collector qui célèbre et explore les modèles mythiques de la Maison à travers des montres en édition limitée et numérotées).
 
Ce modèle, fabriqué en platine avec bracelet cuir, est limité à 200 pièces. Son boitier mesure 32,6 x 25,7 mm et dispose des éléments de design classique avec un verre facetté apportant de la profondeur à l'ensemble et une finition brossé vertical sur le cadran pour plus de modernité par rapport au classique blanc/crème. Cartier a, dès la fin des années 70, utilisé une signature secrète sur ces cadrans pour empêcher les contrefaçons. Ici, cette signature cachée dans le chiffre VII indique « 1917 » (au lieu de l'habituel « Cartier »), qui rend un subtil hommage subtil à son année de naissance.

Ce modèle est équipé du calibre mécanique à remontage manuel 070 qui dispose d'une réserve de marche de 38 heures.

La montre est livrée avec sa boite, sur-boîte, carte de garantie internationale et manuel.
