Introduite en 1968, l’Ellipse de Patek Philippe ne doit pas son design au hasard. En effet, celui-ci est basé sur le nombre d’or, considéré comme la "divine proportion" que l’on retrouve dans la nature ainsi que dans les plus grandes œuvres architecturales et artistiques.

Cette version de l’Ellipse particulièrement rare dispose d'une lunette avec un motif décoratif "Clou de Paris" constitué de petits reliefs en forme de pyramides et son boîtier mesure 28,6mm de largeur contre 27 pour le modèle originel. Les cadrans, fabriqués par le spécialiste Singer pour Patek Philippe, offrent un contraste à la fois simple et saisissant entre la couleur bleue et les index et aiguilles en or jaune.
En outre, ce modèle affiche la date dans un petit guichet à 3h et est équipé d’un mouvement quartz, le calibre E 23 SC, parfait pour une utilisation quotidienne.

Notre exemplaire est équipé d'un cadran MK2 (voir notre [article](https://www.41watch.com/journal/historical-reviews-of-iconic-watches/technical-review-of-the-patek-philippe-ellipse) à ce sujet), reconnaissable grâce à ses index et aiguilles plats, au mot "Geneve" sans accent ainsi qu'aux symboles "Sigma σ" visibles à 6 heures sur le cadran. Le symbole "Sigma σ", introduit dans les années 1970 par l'Association pour la Promotion Industrielle de l’Or (APRIOR), met en avant les manufactures prestigieuses qui utilisent des matières précieuses pour leurs montres et indique que les index sont en or massif, tout comme le cadran pour ce modèle.

La montre est livrée avec son certificat d'origine Patek Philippe (datant de 1987).
