Lancée en 1955, la Rolex GMT-Master introduit une seconde aiguille des heures (l’aiguille “GMT”) afin d’indiquer un second fuseau horaire grâce à sa lunette tournante graduée en 24 heures.

La référence 16700 apparue en 1988 est équipée d'un verre saphir qui remplace le verre plexiglass présent sur la 16750. Elle est la dernière GMT-Master produite avant d'être sortie de production en 1999 pour laisser toute la place à la GMT-Master II 16710 produite jusqu'en 2005.

La montre est livrée avec sa boite, sa garantie d'origine Rolex, une garantie de service de 2004 et un manuel.
