En 2003, à l’occasion du 50ᵉ anniversaire de la Submariner, Rolex introduit la référence 16610LV, surnommée “Kermit”. Pour la première fois dans l’histoire du modèle, la lunette est proposée en vert, couleur emblématique de la marque. Cette version anniversaire conserve le boîtier classique de la Submariner Date, tout en apportant une identité visuelle forte et immédiatement reconnaissable.

La première génération, produite au tout début de la série, est aujourd’hui connue des collectionneurs sous le nom de “Flat Four”. Cette appellation fait référence à la typographie spécifique du chiffre 4 sur l’insert de lunette, dont la barre supérieure est plate, contrairement aux versions ultérieures. Ce détail subtil, associé à un cadran “Maxi” à larges index et aiguilles, confère à ces premiers exemplaires un statut particulièrement recherché.

Equipé du calibre 3135 introduit pour la première fois à la fin des années 1980, ce mouvement, qui dispose d'une réserve de marche de 48h, est largement considéré comme l'un des meilleurs mouvements mécaniques les plus fiables pour une utilisation quotidienne.

La montre est livrée avec sa boite, sur-boite, certificat d'origine, manuels et porte-carte.
