Yellow Gold

The Lange 1 is one of the founder pillar of the brand as it was introduced in 1994 when A. Lange & Söhne was revived by Walter Lange and Günter Blümlein. This model, reference 101.005, originally had a solid back and was only produced for one year, making it particularly rare. Because of its monochrome appearance, collectors have nicknamed this model "Stealth". 

In 1995, the much better-known and more popular platinum reference 101.025 came out, with the major difference being the open case back. 

The standout design element of the Lange 1 remains its asymmetrical dial layout, which features time display in one subdial, a prominent large date window, a power reserve indicator, and a subdial for the small-seconds. An isosceles triangle would be formed if lines were drawn from the center of each display - indicating the time, small-seconds, and the date; a mathematical design which is a characteristic of all A. Lange & Söhne watches. Other essential features, as alpha hands, typical font, diamond-shaped indexes, date window and rectangular-shaped pushers were adopted across all subsequent models.

On the back, the Lange 1 caliber L901.0 stands out as a benchmark movement for the brand. Made from untreated German silver, the three-quarter plate covers most of the caseback and develops a warm, golden patina that protects its surface. The balance cock is beautifully hand-engraved and gold chatons surround the visible jewels, while all visible screws are blued, another characteristic feature of A. Lange & Söhne. Displayed by the indicator on the dial at 3 o'clock, the power reserve lasts more than 72 hours.
