“It alway costs a little more to cultivate a certain style.” So begins an Audemars Piguet advert for the Bamboo model introduced in the 1980s.
At that time, the watchmaking industry was in a state of upheaval with the arrival of quartz movements, and manufacturers had to compete with boldness and inventiveness to remain attractive. This period was therefore propitious for creativity, both on the technical side with new complication movements, and on the aesthetic side with designs that were very different from what was traditionally done. 

This extra-flat watch is a perfect example. Equipped with an octagonal case integrated into the bracelet, the design is a departure from classic dress models. The bracelet, made of gold rods linked by a gold thread, resembles bamboo stalks. Due to the integrated bracelet, the watch sits larger on the wrist than dimensions suggest.

The dial is monogrammed with the letters “AP”, a repeating pattern that creates a texture different from traditional dials.

This model is equipped with the ref. 2080 hand-wound extra-thin mechanical caliber, which has a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.

The watch is delivered full set with box, outer-box and certificate of origin and warranty.
