The first Royal Oak ref. 5402 designed by the famous Gerald Genta was introduced in 1972. Its release was quite a shock with its unique design, its price much higher than gold watches and its imposing 39 mm size for the era nicknamed “Jumbo”.
15202 arrived in 2000 with its display caseback revealing caliber 2121. But it’s only in 2012 for the 40th anniversary of the Royal Oak that the design used for the iconic 5402 came back with, especially, AP logo at 6 and disappearance of minute track.
